Hey there Jerry! What a fabulous resource! A couple of us have tried to download, after getting the news that these are available free for download, and there’s only the first page. What’s up with that? Thanks!

If you are downloading from clicking “download pdf” it should download. Depending on your equipment and internet speed, it may take up to 2 hours for the Moss Digital Atlas and less time for the others. These are very large files of up to 1GB, so be patient. There are also many downloads happening right now. Ed

This is an incredible ressource !!! Is there any way to download the file without having to wait two hours each time I want to consult it (i.e. have a local copy) ? There is nothing available in the menus such as “Save as”…

Downloading results in a file on your computer, preferably on your desktop. Access should be quick from then on, simply by clicking on the file name, unless you have an old computer with an old graphics card. These are hi-res photos and graphics files, and they require a within-the-last-few-years computer for optimum performance. Using Preview on my 3 year old Mac to display the Digital Atlas shows any page in miliseconds. Ed

These are pdf files, so you need a pdf reader to see the files. Use Preview on a Mac to open any of the three Digital Atlas files and the entire Atlas photo library will load faster than you can scan through it. Ed

These are beautiful and awe-inspiring! Thank you! One note: Abies Balsamifera — the caption under the photo of the trees in the Adirondacks says “young FURS”. Did you mean “young FIRS”?

Yes, we meant firs. Even with With multiple proof reads, with more than 2200 pages in three Digital Atlases, we are going to miss a few words. Ed
